Duty free at CSMIA is operated by Mumbai Travel Retail Private Limited, a joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings and Flemingo Travel Retail. In March 2024 the consumer brand was renamed from Mumbai Duty Free to Ospree Duty Free, so you will still see both names on signage and receipts.

The arrivals store is the clever bit

Because T2 sells duty free on arrival as well as departure, you do not have to carry bottles across the world. Order before you fly home, collect after you land in Mumbai. Purchases on arrival are capped — the airport's own guidance cites ₹25,000 — and count towards your overall customs allowance.

A word on luxury monobrands Several travel sites list Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Rolex and Prada boutiques at CSMIA. We could not verify any of them. The luxury monobrands we could confirm are Michael Kors and Montblanc. Mumbai's strength is Indian retail, not European hard luxury.
Reserve & collect

Pre-order duty free and skip the browsing

The airport operator runs a genuine reserve-and-collect service through the Adani One website and app. It is worth using: discounts are voided if you order inside the three-hour window before your flight.

  1. Order between 30 days and 1 hour before your flight

    Discounts apply only to orders placed more than three hours before departure or arrival, so book the day before rather than at the gate.

  2. Choose your collection point

    Terminal 2 Departure or Terminal 2 Arrival. Not available on domestic flights.

  3. Confirm your age and travel details

    Passport number, flight and contact details. Alcohol requires you to confirm you are 25 or over, per Maharashtra excise rules.

  4. Pay online in rupees

    Visa, Mastercard or RuPay only. Cash is not accepted at collection. You receive a QR code by email.

  5. Collect after immigration

    Go to the pre-order counter inside the duty-free store with your QR code, passport and boarding pass. No home delivery; no returns after purchase; refunds take up to 15 working days.

The Baggage Rules 2026 took effect on 2 February 2026 and raised the general allowances substantially. Most travel sites are still quoting the old figures.

Gold and silver other than personal ornaments are excluded from the free allowance.
One figure to treat with care The airport's own duty-free FAQ states a maximum permissible limit of ₹25,000 on arrival purchases. That sits alongside, not instead of, the ₹75,000 general allowance under the Baggage Rules 2026, and we could not find an official document reconciling the two. If you are planning a large arrivals purchase, check the current position at the counter.
Green channel or red channel Green if you have nothing to declare, red if you are carrying dutiable or restricted goods. Taking the green channel with undeclared dutiable goods means confiscation and penalty. Declarations can be made in advance via the ATITHI @ Indian Customs app.
Currency Declaration is mandatory if foreign currency notes exceed US$5,000, or if total foreign exchange including currency exceeds US$10,000.

Shopping tips that actually save money

There is no GST refund for tourists in India
Unlike the UAE, Singapore or the EU, India has no operational point-of-sale tax refund scheme for departing visitors. The legal provision exists in the IGST Act but has never been made to work — there are no refund counters at Indian airports. Instead, retail outlets beyond immigration at an international airport may supply goods without charging GST, so the saving is built into the shelf price. Buy after immigration, not in the city, and do not waste time looking for a refund desk.
Book duty free more than three hours before your flight
Adani One's own terms void discounts on orders placed inside the three-hour window. The booking window opens 30 days out.
You must be 25 to buy alcohol
Maharashtra sets the legal drinking age at 25 — higher than the rest of India and much higher than most of the world. Duty free will refuse the sale below that age, regardless of your passport.
Blinkit delivers to your gate at T2
Since April 2026, quick-commerce delivery operates inside T2 domestic departures: order through the Blinkit app and trained staff deliver to boarding gates, lounges or the food court within minutes. Categories include travel accessories, electronics, snacks, books and baby care.
Buy Indian, not international
On European luxury, CSMIA is thin and rarely cheaper than a Gulf hub. On Indian goods it is outstanding: Ayurvedic skincare from Forest Essentials and Kama Ayurveda, handloom from Fabindia, jewellery from Amrapali and Tanishq, and boxed mithai from Chitale Bandhu or Bikaji that survives a long-haul flight intact.
Non-passengers cannot really shop here
Almost all CSMIA retail is past security or past immigration. A paid visitor entry facility has existed (₹100, two hours at departures, four at arrivals) but the airport's page has listed it as non-operational — check before relying on it. Practically: if you are not flying, do not plan to shop at the airport.
Check your destination's allowance, not India's
Nothing limits what you can buy at T2 on the way out, but your arrival country's rules apply when you land. Two litres of spirits leaving Mumbai is fine; two litres arriving in some countries is not.
Duty free is Terminal 2 only
T1 is domestic, so it has no duty free at all. If you are connecting from an international arrival at T2 onto a domestic flight from T1, buy before you leave T2.
