What is the cheapest way from Mumbai Airport into the city?

Metro Line 3. Both terminals have their own underground station and fares run from 10 to 80 rupees across the line, including 20 rupees to BKC and 50 rupees to Cuffe Parade. BEST air-conditioned airport buses cost 50 to 250 rupees. A prepaid taxi to South Mumbai runs about 620 to 950 rupees.

Can I claim a GST refund when leaving India?

Which terminal do I need — T1 or T2?

Every international flight uses Terminal 2. Domestically, Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air and part of IndiGo's network also use T2; IndiGo's remaining flights, SpiceJet, Star Air and Alliance Air use Terminal 1. Allocations have changed repeatedly through 2026 — always check your booking confirmation.

How far apart are the two terminals?

About 5 km by road, on opposite sides of the runway complex. There is no walkway and no airside link. A free 24-hour shuttle runs from T2 Level 1 (bay P4) and from T1 near Departure Gate 2 — carry both boarding passes and allow 45–60 minutes.

How early should I arrive?

What is the cheapest way into the city?

Can I take an auto rickshaw to Colaba?

No. Autos are licensed to run roughly between Borivali and Bandra in the west and to Sion in the centre; they cannot enter South Mumbai. For Colaba, Fort, Churchgate or Nariman Point take a taxi, an app cab or Metro Line 3.

How do I get on the free Wi-Fi without an Indian SIM?

Connect to #MumbaiAirportWiFi and enter any active mobile number to receive an OTP — international numbers work. If you have no working number, go to an information desk or Wi-Fi kiosk with your passport; ID verification is required by Indian telecoms regulation.

Is there anywhere to sleep in the airport?

Yes. Niranta Airport Transit Hotel runs three properties inside Terminal 2 — two landside on Level 1 and one airside on Level 4 for international-to-international transfer passengers, the only airside hotel rooms in India. Aviserv also runs sleeping pods in arrivals from around ₹750 an hour.

Can I get into a lounge without a business-class ticket?

Yes. Most CSMIA lounges accept walk-ins or online bookings, and several take Priority Pass, DreamFolks and DragonPass. Indicative booked prices run from around ₹1,600 for a T1 lounge to ₹4,300 for the T2 international Adani Lounge.

What is the legal drinking age?

Twenty-five. Maharashtra sets a higher drinking age than the rest of India, and duty free enforces it — you cannot buy alcohol at Mumbai airport under 25 regardless of your nationality.

Is there a left luggage facility?

Yes, at both terminals, with no pre-booking and no weight limit per bag. You can deposit at one terminal and collect at the other. From ₹200 for six hours to ₹2,800 for 72 hours for a cabin bag; inter-terminal delivery ₹250–350.

Can non-passengers come inside?

Not freely. A paid visitor entry facility has existed at ₹100 per person (two hours at departures, four at arrivals) but the airport's own page has listed it as non-operational. Almost all shops and restaurants are past security anyway.

Does DigiYatra work for international flights?

Not yet at Mumbai. DigiYatra operates at Gate 2 of Terminal 2 for domestic departures only. Extension to international has been announced but is not confirmed live, and no facility at Terminal 1 is documented.
